Many of these logs are available as TIF images (scanned images), others available as normal paper copies. The addition of scanned digital copies and the reduction of paper copies is an ongoing effort by the GCGL staff.
GCGL also maintains several proprietary well log and data files donated by operators and wildcatters such as Hamill Resources Company. These files are available in paper copy only at this time; these data will eventually be digitally scanned and integrated into the digital database.

The Scout Cards, Scout Tickets, and Well Histories described below (Sets 1 through 5) are a collection of well drilling, evaluation, completion, and production results generally acquired from the 1920s through the mid-1970s when most of the major players in the industry maintained a complete staff of professional oil scouts committed to secure specific company information. Many are hand written original reports and include location and elevation data, summarized drilling histories, show reports, core reports, SWC results and analysis, types of electric logs run, DST results, perforation depths, production test results, etc.

Elwin Peacock (1928-2016) was arguably one of the most well respected consulting geophysicists in the industry, specifically well known to many exploring the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast Region. Elwin’s career included positions at Sohio Petroleum Company, Signal Oil and Gas Company, Seiscom-Delta Corporation, and 40-plus years as an independent consulting geophysicist. Elwin’s vast collection of velocity surveys was donated to GCGL at his retirement and is unquestionably a unique treasure to GCGL.
GCGL maintains access to new well logs, well histories, historical production, decline data, etc. through a license with TGS/A2D Technologies. The well histories, historical production, production decline data, etc. are available through a desktop application only at GCGL.
